One of our favourite things about our spectacular beachside location is that we can enjoy the beauty and serenity of being so close to the ocean, while also being only a short 40 minute drive from popular tourist destination, Rotorua.
Two of our Housekeeping team members went on a day trip to Rotorua and they had a fun-filled day with lots of adventure. Their first destination was Rainbow Springs. Rainbow Springs is a compact zoo that offers a unique experience to get you up close and personal to many different native birds.
Regardless of which pass you purchase to get into Rainbow Springs, all entries are entitled to a guided tour. Both Katrina and Makayla commented on the fantastic customer service provided and said all staff members were knowledgeable and easy-going.
Rainbow Springs is suitable for all ages, it is an informative experience which has something for everyone, including a café, interactive play areas for the kids, and “The Big Splash” which is a nine minute journey of discovery which ends with a splashing good thrill! If that isn’t enough, you are also in for a once in a lifetime opportunity to see and learn all about the Kiwi, which are very cute!!
After wandering through beautiful bush walks and seeing gorgeous birds and native reptiles, Kat and Makayla made the short venture to Agrodome – a New Zealand Farm Experience. From the get-go all the staff were welcoming and showed them to the Farm Show. The Farm Show was not only entertaining and comical but also informative and interactive.
Once the Farm Show was over, they ventured out to the Farm Tour. During this time their guide was brilliant! He was attentive and had a wonderful sense of humour – which is definitely something valued by these two!! During the tour Katrina and Makayla were able to feed some of the farm animals, including alpaca and sheep which they thoroughly enjoyed. Overall they valued their experience with Agrodome and definitely recommend it to our guests.
When the Farm Tour was over, Katrina and Makayla said goodbye to all their new fluffy friends and headed over to the Zorb. Admittedly, Kat was a little bit nervous but she says all her fears were put at ease by their driver who was very reassuring and friendly.
Back at the top of the hill, Katrina’s nerves kicked back in. The two of them descended down, screams of terror turning into fits of laughter as the adrenaline kicked in. After the first ride down the hill, both the girls couldn’t wait to be up for their second round.
All in all, Kat and Makayla have described the Zorb as a must try, the only thing they disliked about the experience was that they didn’t have enough time! It wasn’t Makayla’s first time visiting the Zorb and she says it definitely won’t be her last.
